Gold & Quality

Is your jewelry really solid gold?

Yes. Every Ophir Gold ring is solid 14K or 18K gold, all the way through. We never use gold plating, vermeil or gold-filled metal, so there's no thin layer to flake off or wear through, and your ring can be polished, resized and repaired for decades.

Should I choose 14K or 18K gold?

14K (58.3% pure gold) is the most popular choice for everyday rings: durable, with a classic warm color. 18K (75% pure gold) has a richer, deeper color and is often the better choice for sensitive skin, but it's a little softer. Both are solid gold for life. Compare them in our Gold Guide.

Which gold colors do you offer?

Most styles come in yellow, white and rose gold. Choose your color and karat on each product page.

Will solid gold tarnish or turn my finger green?

No. Solid gold doesn't tarnish, rust or change color. In rare cases, lotion or soap trapped under a ring can leave a faint mark on the skin; just clean the ring and your skin, and it's gone.

Is your jewelry good for sensitive skin?

Solid gold is one of the best choices for sensitive skin. Higher karats contain more pure gold and less alloy, so 18K yellow gold is the gentlest option. If you have a nickel allergy, message us before ordering white gold and we'll confirm the alloy for you.

Does white gold need maintenance?

White gold is often finished with rhodium for a bright, silvery shine. Over years of wear, a warmer tone can start to show through. A quick re-plating at any jeweler restores it.

Can I mix gold colors in a stack?

Absolutely. Mixing yellow, white and rose gold is one of the easiest ways to make a stack feel personal. Tip: anchor mixed metals with one bold piece, like a dome ring, and keep the rest slim.

Lab-Grown Diamonds & Gemstones

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are made of the same crystallized carbon as mined diamonds, with the same hardness, sparkle and chemical and optical properties. The only difference is where they come from. Learn more in our Lab-Grown Diamond guide.

Are all your diamonds lab-grown?

Yes. Every diamond we use is lab-grown, and it's always stated in the product name and details. We believe you should always know exactly what you're buying.

Do your diamonds come with a certificate?

The diamonds in our pavé, eternity and accent designs are small stones (often called melee), which are not individually graded by labs. Every product page lists the stone type and setting so you know exactly what you're getting.

Can stones fall out of a pavé or eternity band?

Our stones are securely set, but any stone-set ring needs a little care. Take rings off for workouts, heavy lifting and cleaning, and check your stones every few months. If a stone ever comes loose, contact us right away and stop wearing the ring until it's checked.

Sizing & Fit

How do I find my ring size?

Our Ring Size Guide shows three easy ways to measure at home, plus a full size chart in millimeters. For the most accurate fit, any local jeweler can size your finger for free.

Which sizes do you offer?

US sizes 3 to 13¾ in quarter sizes, 44 sizes in total. That's one of the widest size ranges in fine jewelry, so you get a precise fit, not “close enough.”

Should I size up for wide or chunky rings?

Yes. For bands 6mm or wider, such as our chunky gold rings, go up a quarter to half size. Wide rings cover more of your finger and feel tighter.

I'm between two sizes. Which should I choose?

Choose the larger size for wide bands and if your knuckles are larger than your finger base. Choose the smaller size for thin stacking rings, which tend to spin when loose.

What if my ring doesn't fit?

We'll resize your ring for free. Contact us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and the size you need. You cover the shipping back to us; the resizing is on us.

Can my ring be resized later?

Most plain gold bands can be resized by a jeweler. Eternity bands and rings set with stones all the way around can't be resized because of the setting. In that case, contact us and we'll find the best option for you.

Do you offer men's sizes?

Yes. Our range goes up to size 13¾, which covers most men's sizes. Our signet rings and wedding bands are popular unisex choices.

Care & Everyday Wear

Can I wear my ring every day?

That's what it's made for. Solid gold is designed for daily wear. Just take your rings off for the gym, swimming and cleaning to keep them looking their best.

Can I shower, swim or sleep in my ring?

Solid gold can get wet, but chlorine, salt water and soap build-up can dull the shine and weaken stone settings over time. We recommend removing rings before swimming and showering. Sleeping in plain bands is fine; take off stone-set rings to protect the settings.

How do I clean my ring?

Soak it in warm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. More tips in our Jewelry Care Guide.

Will stacked rings scratch each other?

Gold rings worn together will develop soft, fine marks over time. Many people love this natural patina. Diamonds can scratch gold, so if you want to keep a band pristine, place a plain band between diamond rings.

Gifting

How do I buy a ring as a gift without knowing their size?

Borrow a ring they already wear on the same finger and compare it with our size chart. Still unsure? Most women wear sizes 6 to 7 and most men 9 to 10, and if it doesn't fit, we'll resize it for free.

Do you offer gift packaging?

Yes. We offer gift packaging options, so your ring arrives ready to give. Contact us if you have a special request.

Do you have matching wedding bands?

Yes. Explore our wedding bands, including curved and nesting bands designed to sit flush against an engagement ring, and unisex bands for couples.
